The opportunity to create .buzz is easier than one might think. Through understanding and awareness of the launch process, along with working through contracted .buzz Registrar partners, the general public has a great opportunity to secure a choice .buzz domain name early.
dotStrategy, Co. of Conway, Arkansas has been approved to be the accredited registry for the new Top Level Domain, .buzz. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) defines a top level domain or TLD as “the right-most label in a domain name,” such as .com or .org.
With the announcement of new Top Level Domains, there are opportunities for new domain names, and one of these is .buzz.
All of this begs the question, how do you get a great .buzz domain name? How do you register a new generic Top Level Domain?
Bill Doshier, founder of dotStrategy, threw his hat in the TLD name ring three years ago. In December 2013, ICANN contracted with Doshier and dotStrategy to operate the new .BUZZ Top Level Domain. dotStrategy will sell .buzz domains through partnerships with domain name Registrars across the globe.
A Registrar has direct business relationships with domain name Registries such as .buzz, and is authorized to sell domain names to their customers. In order to become a Registrar, the business must be accredited through ICANN, which requires that they meet certain business and technical requirements.
.buzz currently has Registry Registrar Agreements with the list of global Registrar partners displayed below for the marketing and distribution of .buzz domain names. A link to each of these Registrars can be found at: www.buzznames.biz/partners

The .buzz Launch: When You Can Get A .buzz Domain Name
The .buzz domain name launch schedule includes four events; Sunrise, Landrush, Pre-Registration and General Availability.
Sunrise: January 15 – March 18 (Trademarks Only)
Landrush: March 20 – April 10 (HOT! Names)
Pre-registration: Now! (As Quickly As Possible)
General Availability: April 15 (Go For It!)
Sunrise:
The first event is Sunrise. Sunrise is the time in which owners of trademarks may register a domain name containing the owned mark with .buzz label. The .buzz Sunrise is currently under way and ends on March 18th.
Landrush:
The second event is Landrush. During Landrush, the public has their first chance to register premium .buzz domain names. There is an application process for the .buzz domain desired. If there is more than one applicant for the same domain name there is a bidding process-or private auction between applicants. The highest bidder will be the winner of the domain.
.buzz Landrush is from March 20th until April 10th.
Wait! There’s Also Pre-Registration:
.buzz Pre-registration is open to everyone and is occurring now. Pre-registration gives everyone the chance – with the help of a .buzz Registrar – to register the domain the desire as quickly as possible once General Availability opens.
For pre-registration, one pays a registration fee early upfront to hopefully secure a .buzz Top Level Domain. If the Pre-Registration attempt is unsuccessful the registration fee is returned.
Some Registrars, see list above, are already pre-registering the Top Level Domain .buzz. To pre-register, select a Registrar that is offering .buzz pre-registration and sign up.
General Availability:
The third event is General Availability. General Availability is when the public receives the opportunity to register any domain not previously registered. .buzz general availability begins on April 15th.
At the point of General Availability some of the best, or premium, domain names for .buzz may already be registered through the previous launch events. If not, anyone has a chance to register the .buzz domain name during General Availability. First Come, First Serve.
Conclusion:
The opportunity to create .buzz is easier than one might think.
Through understanding and awareness of the launch process, along with working through contracted .buzz Registrar partners, the general public has a great opportunity to secure a choice .buzz domain name early. Anyone can take advantage of Landrush and Pre-Registration to secure their .buzz domain name. All .buzz launch events are offered by .buzz Registrar partners. It’s very important to engage immediately with a .buzz contracted Registrar, open an account – and pursue the domain name desired through the upcoming .buzz launch events.
