With 2016 industry predictions hot off the press, and the domain industries largest conference – NamesCon –wrapping up last week, clearly 2015 was a banner year for new Top Level Domains (TLDs). We saw increasing adoption, with big brands, celebrities and business owners giving their stamp of approval to new TLDs.
.buzz enters 2016 with over 9,700 domain registrations. Business, travel and entertainment domains make up 40+% of .buzz registrations. Additionally, budding communities such as cannabis, honeybees and drones continue to create buzz. .buzz is available to registrants globally through our 83 registrar partners, with registration activity now evident in 99 countries. Since launching .buzz in April 2014 we’ve established a solid base of business and registrant communities to propel .buzz development through 2016 and beyond.
We’re buzzing over mobile, and .buzz mobile development has been top of mind. For NamesCon, we introduced an easy way for our registrants to create mobile-friendly webpages through the BuzzPage platform. The BuzzPage is a network of mobile-ready promotional websites that accelerate the buzz and popularity of work from artist-entrepreneurs including musicians and producers, authors, independent filmmakers, actors, and entertainment professionals.
Mobile presents a huge opportunity for our .buzz communities and will only continue to grow. Stats coming out of the 2015 holiday shopping season show roughly one third of sales attributed to mobile. .buzz registrants will continue to draw fans, followers and customers in on mobile devices, and will be looking to align their brands – whether personal or business – with our BuzzPage platform creating friendlier, simplified mobile experiences.
At .Buzz, we embody and embrace the future. With this in mind, we’re helping our registrants connect with their audiences and others in the .Buzz community on mobile devices across the country and the globe!
